Psychotherapy includes interactive processes between a person or group and a qualified mental health professional. Its purpose is the exploration of thoughts, feelings and behaviour for the purpose of problem solving or achieving higher levels of functioning.
Psychotherapy aims to increase the individual's sense of his/her own well-being. Psychotherapists employ a range of techniques based on experiential relationship building, dialogue, communication and behaviour change that are designed to improve the mental health of a client or patient, or to improve group relationships (such as in a family)
Counselling is the process that occurs when a client and counsellor set aside time in order to explore difficulties which may include the stressful or emotional feelings of the client. It is the act of helping the client to see things more clearly, possibly from a different view-point. This can enable the client to focus on feelings, experiences or behaviour, with a goal to facilitating positive change. Confidentiality is paramount to successful counselling. Professional counsellors will usually explain their policy on confidentiality, they may, however, be required by law to disclose information if they believe that there is a risk to life.

• Being able to understand yourself and your personal goals and values better.
• Developing skills for improving relationships.
• It helps the client overcome certain problems, such as an eating disorder, depression, or anxiety.
